Here at CPS Tackle we stock a wide range of Shimano Big Pit Reels and Shimano Baitrunner Reels. In the 80's my first proper carp reels I bought were a pair of Shimano 4500 Aero GT Baitrunner's. In those days the Baitrunners came with single handles then Shimano developed the Twin Handled Dyna Balance Baitrunner Reel, to make them smoother and take a lot of the wobble out of the spool. After using those for a few years I change to the Shimano Ultegra 10000 Big Pit Reels because I started fishing bigger waters and wanted to be able to cast greater distances easier. The Ultegra Reels didn't have the Baitrunner system so you just had to loosen the front drag of then remember to tighten it back up or cup the spool so you don't get into a mess. Today Shimano Reels have moved on massively and Shimano still produce the stunning Ultegra Range with the Ultegra XTD, XSD and the Ultegra 14000 Ci4 Big Pit Reel which for the money I personally think its the Best Big Pit Carp Reel on the market, with its Stunning looks, Super Light Weight and Slow Oscillation making the line lay superior to other manufacturers reels. Shimano also produce reels for those of you on a budget like the Shimano Beastmaster 7000 XTA, which is a fantastic big pit reel for the money featuring Shimano's awesome Front Spool Baitrunner System. The Bait Runner Spool Mk 2 enables you to just turn the front drag quarter of a turn to go from free spool to fighting drag instead of like on the Shimano Ultegra 14000 XTD its about one full turn of the front drag till its tightened up from free spool. If its baitrunner reels you were after and were watching what you spend, the Shimano 10000 ST BR or the Shimano 10000 DL Baitrunner reels are cracking reels for the money. If money is no object, the the Shimano Aero Technium Mgs 12000 XTB are the reels to look at! Not only do they look the part but they are extremely light and with their Super Slow Oscillation they are perfect for the long range caster but saying that they are equally at home fishing in the margin. Shimano also produce the newly redesigned, Aerlex 10000 XTB Spod reel  that looks absolutely stunning and the Spod Reel would even make the perfect Marker reel as well.
